# Terms of Use

Last updated October 2, 2026

These terms are the agreement between you and Scholr for the Scholr iOS app and this website.
By using Scholr you accept them. If you do not accept them, do not use Scholr.

## Who can use Scholr

You must be at least 13. If you are under 18, you may use Scholr only with the agreement of a
parent or guardian, and by using it you confirm they have agreed. You need a valid school
account for the parts that pull in your school data.

## What Scholr is, and what it is not

Scholr is a client. It signs in to systems your school already uses, with your own credentials,
and shows you your own information in one place. It adds tools on top: a grade calculator, GPA
tools, a bell-schedule countdown, a campus map, hall passes, flex sign-up and teacher ratings.

Scholr is not a gradebook, a student information system, or an official record. It does not
create, correct or store your official grades. Your school does.

## Not affiliated with anyone

**Scholr is independent.** It is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or approved
by your school, your school district, or any of the companies named below. Naming a platform
describes what Scholr connects to or intends to connect to. It does not imply a relationship,
a partnership, or a licence.

All product names, logos and brands are the property of their owners. In particular:

- **Aeries** is a trademark of Aeries Software, Inc.
- **PowerSchool**, **Schoology**, **Home Access Center** and **Naviance** are trademarks of
  PowerSchool Group LLC.
- **Aspen** is a trademark of Follett School Solutions, LLC.
- **Infinite Campus** is a trademark of Infinite Campus, Inc.
- **Skyward** is a trademark of Skyward, Inc.
- **Synergy** and **StudentVUE** are trademarks of Edupoint Educational Systems, LLC.
- **Canvas** is a trademark of Instructure, Inc.
- **Q Student Connection** and **Q Parent Connection** are trademarks of Aequitas Solutions, Inc.

Most of the platforms in that list are ones Scholr does not connect to yet. The school
picker inside the app is the only list of what works today: if your school is in it, Scholr
connects to what that school runs. Use Scholr at your own risk.

## Using Scholr properly

Use Scholr for your own account and your own information. Do not use anyone else's credentials.
Do not attempt to break, overload, probe, reverse engineer or scrape the service, and do not
use it to get at records that are not yours. Do not use Scholr to break your school's own
acceptable-use rules. If your school tells you not to use a third-party app with your school
account, that is between you and your school, and their rules come first.

## Teacher ratings, and our zero-tolerance rule

Teacher ratings are content written by other students. We do not check them for accuracy, and
a rating is somebody's opinion, not a fact about a person.

**There is no tolerance for objectionable content or abusive users.** Do not post harassment,
bullying, hate speech, slurs, threats, sexual content, someone's personal information, or
claims you know to be false. Do not post about anyone who is not a teacher at your school.

To keep that enforceable:

- Every rating is filtered for slurs and profanity before it can be posted.
- Every rating carries a **Report** action. We review reports, normally **within 24 hours**,
and take down any comment that breaks these terms. The score itself stays. A comment that
several people report is hidden straight away, before review.
- Every rating carries a **Block** action. Blocking hides that person's comments from you,
now and later. Their scores still count toward a teacher's average, so the average is the
same for everyone. You can undo it in Settings.
- Posting requires a verified phone number, which makes a banned account expensive to replace.
- We can remove content, restrict posting, or terminate an account that breaks these rules,
  with or without notice.

You can delete your own ratings whenever you like.

## Your content

You keep ownership of what you write. By posting, you give us permission to store it and show
it to other students at your school, anonymously, for as long as you leave it up. You are
responsible for what you post and you confirm you have the right to post it.

## Scholr Elite

Scholr Elite is an optional subscription. It is billed yearly through your Apple Account at
the price shown in the App Store when you subscribe (**$9.99 per year** in the United States, before any promotional discount),
and it **renews automatically** each year unless you cancel at least 24 hours before the
current period ends. Manage or cancel it in the Settings app under your Apple
Account. Cancelling stops the next renewal; it does not refund the period you are in.

Apple handles all billing and all refunds. We cannot issue a refund. Request one through
Apple at reportaproblem.apple.com. Prices may change, and any change applies from your next
renewal after we tell you.

Use of the app is also governed by Apple's standard licence terms for apps:
[Licensed Application End User License Agreement](https://www.apple.com/legal/internet-services/itunes/dev/stdeula/).
Where those terms and these disagree, Apple's control for the parts they cover.

## Invites

When friends who are new to Scholr install it from your invite link and use the invite while
they sign up, we add Scholr Elite time to your account (currently one month for every 5
friends, up to a year ahead and at most twelve months of invite time in any twelve-month
period). An invite counts only during sign-up: someone who already uses Scholr, or who uses an
invite after signing up, does not count, and each student counts once, ever, even if they
delete their account. Each phone counts once. Invite rewards are a gift:
they are not a purchase, have no cash value, cannot be transferred, and do not renew. The
person you invite does not receive a reward for installing. We can change or end the program at any time, and we remove rewards
that come from fake, duplicate or self-made accounts.

## Apple

Apple is not a party to these terms and has no obligation to support Scholr. Apple is a
third-party beneficiary of these terms and may enforce them against you. If Scholr fails to
meet an applicable warranty you may tell Apple, who will refund the purchase price; beyond
that, Apple has no other warranty obligation for Scholr. Any claim about Scholr, including
product liability, a failure to meet a legal requirement, or a consumer-protection claim, is
our responsibility and not Apple's.

## No guarantees

Scholr is provided as is and as available, without warranties of any kind, to the fullest
extent the law allows. Grades, schedules and everything else come from your school's systems.
They can be late, wrong, incomplete or unavailable, and Scholr can be too. **Do not rely on
Scholr as your only source for anything that matters**, including official grades, GPA,
graduation requirements and deadlines. Check with your school.

Calculated numbers, including what-if grades and every GPA scale, are estimates based on the
data available and the weightings we could find. They are not official and your school may
compute them differently.

## Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent the law allows, Scholr and the person who makes it are not liable for
indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data,
opportunities or grades, arising from your use of or inability to use Scholr. Our total
liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid us in the twelve months before it
arose, or twenty five dollars, whichever is greater. Some places do not allow these limits, in
which case they apply as far as they are permitted.

## Ending it

You can stop using Scholr at any time, and delete your account in Settings, under Privacy and
safety. We can suspend or end your access if you break these terms. Sections that by their
nature should survive, including the disclaimers and the limitation of liability, survive.

## Disputes

If something goes wrong, email us first at help@scholr.cc. Most things are fixable in a day
and neither of us wants a lawyer. These terms are governed by the laws of the State of
California, without regard to its conflict-of-law rules, and any dispute not resolved by email
belongs in the state or federal courts of California.

## Changes

We may update these terms. We will change the date at the top, and if a change is significant
we will say so in the app. Continuing to use Scholr after that means you accept it.
